Those of you who know me or have been following my blog and social media will know I’ve been very busy lately getting my little shop up and running, and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has supported me in that venture so far!
I’ve taken a short break from my painting guides to finally make a start on my Shadowspear models. When Intercessors were released I thought Space Marines couldn’t get any better – but then along came the Vanguard… 😉
It’s been nice to get back to the Raptors and try out some tweaks to the scheme I had in mind for these models. This is a test model so I hope you like what I came up with!
Model looks great! What are your changes on this one compared to the regular Raptors receipt?
I’m also an airbrush newb, what size of nozzle and psi do you use?
Keep churning out a lot of cool models!
Thanks Coleslaw!
The armour is painted in exactly the same way. The changes are subtle – really it’s just the leather pouches etc where I’ve used two different greens, and a tan colour for the pistol holster. I just wanted to experiment with adding a couple of new secondary colours into the overall scheme – to keep things interesting for me as I paint them as much as anything else.
Again, very subtle but the comma stuff on the helmet is painted using a blue-black instead of the plain black used on the gun.
I got myself a Badger Renegade Krome in the recent promotion they did, and I’m loving it! I believe the needle / nozzle is 0.3mm. I normally spray at 15-20psi (usually 20), and only really go above that if I experience ‘spatter’ with highly pigmented colours like white.
Cheers,
Luther
Ah interesting, I actually was curious about this too, looking at your Raptor tutorial. I have the same airbrush and I was debating using the fine tip (~0.3mm) vs the ultra-fine tip (~0.2mm). I usually go fine for priming or basecoating and ultra-fine for layers
This is really unbelievable! Keep up the great work.
Thanks!
