This guide is designed for beginner to intermediate level painters. The aim is to achieve a good quality paint job in a way that can be replicated relatively quickly across an army. Some of the later steps are optional, so the method can be ‘scaled’ from rank and file to more special models such as commanders and characters.
A certain level of experience and understanding is assumed of basic painting techniques such as basecoating, layering, using shading washes and edge highlighting, but more ‘advanced’ techniques such as freehand or NMM are avoided to ensure maximum accessibility.

I’ve been following The Mighty Brush for a number of years now and was extremely excited to see these “official” guides come out. Having purchased this guide it’s safe to say you are in very capable hands here. The guide is clear, concise and easy to follow. All paints, oils and materials are clearly listed and every stage is described in enough detail without being convoluted or overly intricate. There are plenty of high resolution images taken from multiple angles for each stage of the painting process, which is so essential for a written guide like this to work effectively. The author is also extremely helpful and attentive if you have any other technical questions about the guide or miniature painting in general.
This is a 5 star guide for me and a bargain at £3.99. You’re essentially paying a small fee for someone to do all the experimentation / ground work for you so that you can have a great formula without all the hard work.
